Newport News bingo player missing

Police in Newport News need your help finding a woman who has been missing since January 28th. Detectives are looking for 45-year-old Cherlyn “Cookie” Easterling. Her family says she suffers from depression.

Easterling was last seen at the Bingo City on Route 17 in York County on Saturday at 3:30 in the morning. She was seen leaving the bingo game with several people, but it is unknown if she rode or walked away from the premises.

She has been known to walk from the game home on several occasions.
Now police, her family and her friends are trying to find out how she left the property when she went outside.

“I’m sure there were a few folks she sat with every time she went,” said her friend Francine Lord. Do I think the worst? I do. She wouldn’t leave with just anyone. That’s not Cookie,” Lord said.

When last seen she was wearing a navy blue fleece jacket with the word Williamsburg monogrammed on the left breast.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Balthis at 369-3124 or Crime line at 1-888-lock-u-up.
